The West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce started 2020 with a Chinese New Year themed Networking Lunch! Generously hosted by the oriental style venue, The Slowboat, this was a first event of its kind for the Chamber and was extremely popular with 75 local business people in attendance for a lunchtime Chinese buffet! General Networking between the Chamber members ensued from 12:30pm, giving everyone an opportunity to make new connections and catch up with familiar members.
Jenny Davidson, Events and Young Chamber Manager, welcomed guest to the first Chamber Lunch event of the Year. Then each table went up for the Chinese buffet of starters; Prawn Toast, Salt & Pepper Wings and Spring Rolls. Once everyone had finished their starters, it was time to head to the buffet again for the main course, which consisted of; Egg Fried Rice, Chicken Noodles, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Beef Curry, Roast Pork & Black Bean and Vegetable Curry.
Lucy Liang, Senior Adviser at University of Chester’s China Centre, gave guests a short lesson on Chinese New Year traditions and how to say some basic Mandarin phrases. Following this, a group of students from the University of Chester entertained guests with some traditional Chinese Songs & Dances to celebrate the Year of The Rat! The Chinese entertainment didn’t stop there with Lucy hosting a quiz based around Chinese New Year and Chinese culture, with the winning table each receiving a chocolate gold medal!
Jenny then closed the event, thanking The Slowboat for their great hospitality and everyone for attending the special themed lunch and informed them all of our upcoming events.
